Youngster Max Tkocz überzeugt
Söhnstetten. Zum 19. Mal versammelten sich die ambitionierten Discgolfer in Söhnstetten. Die Albuch Classics, ein B-Turnier der GermanTour stand an. Neben einigen deutschen Spitzenspielern waren auch zwei Gäste aus der Schweiz dabei, unter anderem Paul Francz, der Chef der Europameisterschaft Ende des Monats.
Drei Mal 18 Bahnen auf dem EM-Kurs von 2008 standen unter der perfekten Regie von Turnierdirektor Dennis Stampfer an. 36 Open-Spieler, fünf Frauen, sieben Junioren sowie je elf Master und Grandmaster, unter ihnen mit Hartwig Henrich (Scheibensucher Rüsselsheim) ein Legend-Akteur, insgesamt kämpften also 70 Teilnehmer um GT-Punkte, Preisgeld und gläserne Pokale.
Durch einen fulminanten Schlussspurt sicherte sich Michael Stelzer, im vergangenen Jahr „nur“ Achter in Söhnstetten, 2014 wieder den Sieg.
In der Open glänzte in der ersten Runde am Samstagmorgen Dennis Possen von den Scheibensuchern Rüsselsheim. Mit neun Würfen unter Par (49) übernahm er die Führung, die er mit einer soliden Runde (54) am Nachmittag verteidigte. Mit einer 51er und einer 53er Runde saß ihm Lokalmatador Christian Schmidt vom Ausrichter WSCA mit nur einem Wurf Rückstand im Nacken.
Auch die deutschen EM-Teilnehmer Ralf Hüpper (53, 52) vom DG Kettenjeklüngel Köln und WSCAler Michael Stelzer (54, 52), dessen sportliches „Wohnzimmer“ nur 300 Meter von seinem Wohnort entfernt liegt, unterstrichen ihren Anspruch auf einen Treppchenplatz. In Lauerposition mit jeweils 109 Würfen lagen Benedikt Heiß (DiscGolfGuerilla) und Torben Casser (DiscGolfer Münsterland).
Am Sonntagmorgen ging es - völlig ungewöhnlich für die Albuch Classics - bei starkem Regen auf die Runde. Der letztjährigen Juniorensieger der GermanTour, Torben Casser aus Löningen, trumpfte mit der stärksten Turnierrunde aller Teilnehmer auf. Trotz schwieriger Bedingungen spielte der bei der EM in der Junior-Division startende Casser zehn unter Par (48).
Fast genau so stark wie der Youngster aus dem Norden zeigte sich im Regen Christian Schmidt, der neun Würfe unter Par blieb und sich an die Spitze des Feldes spielte. Topfavorit Michael Stelzer spielte gewohnt solide. Wurfgleich mit Dennis Possen erreichte er als Zweiter das Finale. Der Rheinländer Ralle Hüpper musste zuschauen, da der Westfale Casser an ihm vorbeizog und das Finale erreichte.
