Nummer zwei weltweit
Sven Rippel knackt die 1000
Der 17-jährige Sven Rippel, Discgolfer von GW Marathon Münster, überspringt beim jüngsten Rating der weltweiten Discgolfer-Vereinigung PDGA die 1000er Marke. Mit 1001 ist er hinter dem US-Amerikaner Jared Roan weltweit die Nummer zwei der Discgolf-Amateure.
Der Bergkamener Schüler im
Trikot der Discgolfer Münsterland wird von fünf Amerikaners eingerahmt. Noch bis zur Europameisterschaft wird 
Sven Rippel als Amateur agieren und direkt nach der Teilnahme an der Junioren-Europameisterschaft im englischen Colchester ins Pro-Lager wechseln. Dort würde er mit seinem heutigen Rating auf Rang 159 in der weltweiten Proliste geführt.
Gleichauf mit dem GermanTour-Sieger 2011 Christian Plaue (Grebenstein), der gleichfalls auf 1001 kommt. Vor den beiden wird in Deutschland nur noch der Bremer Simon Lizotte (1015) geführt, der sich im nächsten Jahr in den amerikanischen Profizirkus stürzen will.
Seit dieser Saison spielt Sven, der amtierende Deutsche Meister und GermanTour-Sieger der Junioren in der GermanTour in der Open-Division, wo er seit seinem Erfolg am Wochenende in Bayern auf Rang drei geführt wird. zuvor hatte Rippel die Ostpark Open (B-Turnier), und die C-Turniere in Beckum, Lünen und Münster gewonnen.
International ist er noch als Junior an der Scheibe. Anfang April sicherte er sich den Titel des Niederländischen Junioren-Meisters. Mitte August will er auf einem für ihn nahezu geschaffenen Kurs auf dem Campus der Universitätsstadt Colchester versuchen, den Europameistertitel in Münsterland zu holen. Sehr gute Chancen hat er. Neben zwei, drei Skandinaviern dürfte sein Vereinskamerad Kevin Konsorr (PDGA-Rating: 984) sein größter Konkurrent in England sein.
