Simon Lizotte und Sven Rippel sind Europameister

Colchester. Nach einer spannenden Discgolf-Woche im englischen Colchester (Essex) bejubelten die 16 deutschen Teilnehmer und ihre Begleiter bei der Europameisterschaft zwei Titel für Deutschland. Simon Lizotte (Open) und Junior Sven Rippel (beide DiscGolfer Münsterland) fahren als beste Discgolfer Europas zurück auf den Kontinent.

Nach vier Tagen mit jeweils einer Runde über den extrem anspruchsvollen 66-Par-Kurs auf dem Campus der University of Essex hatte es die beiden Spieler von GW Marathon Münster geschafft. Lizotte hatte von Beginn an das Klassement angeführt, zeigte aber in dem eher mäßigen Finale Nerven. Am Ende siegte er mit 231 Würfen (33 unter Par) vor dem Dänen Karl Johan Nybo (235) und dem Schweden Oscar Stenfelt (238).

Mit nur zehn Würfen mehr als sein Vereinskamerad Simon Lizotte gewann der 17-Jährige die Euro beeindruckend Die 241 (- 23) Würfe reichten locker für die Top Ten des Turniers. Zweiter bei den Junioren wurde der U 16-Weltmeister Kaj Larsson (249 / -15) aus Schweden. Platz drei ging an den Litauer Gabrelius Gricius (254 / -10). Den Titel bei den Damen sicherte sich die Schwedin Ragna Bygde (274 / +10). Die Altherren-Titel gingen an den Schweizer Stephan Müller (253 / -11 – Masters / 40+), der sich erst im zweiten Stechen durchsetzen konnte, den Briten Derek Robins (263 / -1 – Grandmaster / 50+) und den Finnen Markku Tohni (305 / +41 – Senior Grandmaster / 60+).
